- Illustrator is vector based and is not pixel based. it is better for graphics as it is more flexible and does not distort the image.
- it uses layers just like photoshop but make sure to lock it when you are not using it.
- selection and direct selection tools are key
- fill to fill an object
- stroke to add an outline
- opacity makes it solid/ see through
- selection tool allows you to e.g rotate (just like photoshop)
- direct selection creates anchor points and anchor
- shapes tool too are very useful
- effects e.g blur or 3D
- you can import JPEGs and convert to vector using live trace for a stylized look
- text tool is used for selection to move, resize or rotate
- window- type- character- experiment (manipulate e.g tracking and spacing)
- right click text to create outline. this creates anchor points which allows you to isolate and edit smaller parts of text.
- pen tool allows you to add to anchor points

Samiz this is a thoroughly organised blog with all tasks completed and in order. Excellent work well done. Although your first analysis of institutions from the case studies described them you have explained your choice of institution and why later on in the magazine pitch. Again there is good detailed analysis of new media technologies used. Your newsstand tasks is well addressed and researched and you have clearly identified methods used in addressing particular audiences through this form. This is also evident with your discussion of layout, codes and conventions used (lower left third for CD's) and terminology applied. Your links to other distribution methods for part two of this task are good, but I would like you to explain each of the processes yourself. Do any work better than others? What would you use more of for your own magazine? Again consistent blogging of Photography and Illustrator workshops and your own shoots are to a very high standard. Good contact sheets of your first two shoots with analysis of chosen final shots to date. Keep this going. Your magazine pitch is detailed and blogged. Upload your filmed pitch once you receive it and reflect on the audience feedback. Excellent work overall, you are planning well for the construction stages.
